In general, we would like the advisors to be supportive of their students, ensure they are on track with their doctoral studies, and be involved in some TRANSCEND activities. An advisor's involvement can take many forms, such as attending our annual end-of-year showcase, like WISHfest, participating in occasional student presentations at Talk Shop (especially when their own students are presenting), and/or giving guest lectures on their research. We also expect advisors to encourage their students' continued involvement with TRANSCEND to the best of their ability during their tenure at UConn. For example, students could continue to attend Talk Shops and other lectures, and/or assist in the completion of the challenge teams' projects. As long as the student remains involved, $1k in travel funds and $1k in research funds will continue to be available each year.
